Girls AFL Australian Rules football in Sydney’s North and Northwest
The Northwest Lightning are your local girls AFL Australian Rules football team in Sydney’s North and Northwest. We are an alliance between three junior AFL clubs: Hornsby-Berowra Eagles, Pennant Hills Junior Demons and the Westbrook Bulldogs.

Australian Rules is the fast-paced football that fosters fitness, fun and friendship. Be part of the popular team sport for girls and play AFL with the Northwest Lightning!
- Girls-only teams for ages 7-17
- Fun, friendly, family environment with a focus on skills, participation and development
- Games played on Sundays with midweek team training
- Graduated contact rules with full training provided

Coach with the Lightning in 2025!
Is this your year to get involved as a coach or assistant coach at the Northwest Lightning?
Becoming a coach is a massively rewarding experience as you help our Lightning players to develop and grow, and enjoy everything that’s wonderful about playing AFL.
We’re keen to hear from parents, friends or supporters who are interested in joining us in 2025 as a coach or assistant coach for our Northwest Lightning all-girls AFL teams. We’d especially love to hear from women and girls who are interested in coaching.
